Situated in the centre of Fresnay sur Sarthe, our 300 year old town house is built on the old outer ramparts of the medieval Château. The “poterne” is just a stone’s through away. During the 100 year war, Fresnay was occupied by the English for over 50 years. History is all around you in the narrow alleys and winding streets with their descriptive names.

Pass through the “poterne” and enter the formal gardens, within the château walls. Look over the ramparts at the river below and see the roofs of the ancient town and the watermills straddling the river. Fresnay is truly unspoilt and worthy of its “Petite Cité de Caractère” status.

You enter the house from the Place and on this level you will find, a superb, fully fitted kitchen with views over the outer town.
From the kitchen you descend a wooden staircase into the large lounge with wood-burner. Off the lounge you will find a double bedroom. There is a doorway to a lobby and utility room with washing-machine, W.C. and sink. There is an exit onto the ancient steps between the Place and the outer town.

Next to the kitchen is the dining room with another wood-burner and views of the château and Place.

An old oak staircase leads you to the first floor with master bedroom and fully fitted en-suite shower-room with WC, bidet and basin.

There is a second double bedroom and a fully tiled bathroom with W.C., bidet and basin.
The stairs continue on to the converted “grenier”, where you will find a twin bedroom and a single bedroom with views over the Place and Château. These two bedrooms share a spacious, fully filled shower-room with WC, bidet, basin.
